How I Get Through Adversity
Adversity is part of life that we all go through at some point in our lives. Life will punch in the face and kick you when you are down. It will leave your head spinning and leave you in a daze. Some have more than others and there are different levels to it. I have had my fair share of adversity in my life: divorce, job loss, financial stress are some just to name a few. But guess what? I am still here and thriving. This is not because I am stronger than most, but it is because of the way I handle it. I have a few simple steps that I take, and they help me get through the moment because that is all it is, a moment. Let’s dig in.
- Confront the problem head on — Ignoring the issue or problem will not make it go away. It will just make it harder to fix or solve. Believe me, in my earlier years, I just put it out of my mind until I HAD to confront it until it was sometimes too late. So now I look in the mirror and sat this is the issue, now go figure it out. It is not pleasant but very necessary if you are going to move forward. I realized that until I saw the issue for what it truly was, I was never going to solve the problem. For instance, when I got divorced, I had to realize two things: my ex-wife was not coming back, and life goes on no matter what I was feeling. Once I realized that, everything became clear; start healing and move forward with my life. I found purpose and a new career in real estate and the rest as they say is history.
